Don't talk the talk, WALK the walk

clockwise: Balenciaga, Miu Miu, YSL, Miu Miu (from fall ad campaign)
5 Quirky shoes for fall! Statement shoes are heading our way. Obviously, the fact that it is soon to get cooler and possibly start snowing should not even be a worry on our minds. Why not live up to the cold weather by sporting your electric, blue, fringy-hairy pumps?

If you're feeling a little shy this fall trying out some of the bold, new trends, just remember this slogan, which I try to live by:

DON'T TALK THE TALK, JUST....

CAT ATTACK!

Could it be the year of the cats?

(photo from nymag.com)
backstage @ Prada, Fall 10 show
Whoever thought glasses were uncool, well think again!

Cat-eye glasses are certainly on my mind this fall ever since Prada re-visited the oldies trend!
They're simple but there's still the 'flair' we all want. Both classic and quirky combine to create a perfect pair of glasses.

Barbie has cat-eyed glasses too.

Will you guys be sporting the cat-eye OR is that just a trend you would rather avoid?

Elegance AND Comfort?

Back-to-basics (or should I say A Call to the Past) was certainly a pattern on many runways this fall. The Marc Jacobs fall collection, also, seemed to embody the past. However there was also an air of mystery and romance; the soft, muted colors of the clothes suggested a simple yet timelessly, classic era. Long skirts and maxi dresses floated down the runway one after another, elegance and comfort both suggested in the clothing....

The elegance mixed with the simplicity and practicality left the audience in awe. A long evening dress made with jersey, cozy socks stuffed into satin slippers, a glittering cardigan paired with a tweed skirt, a fairy-like dress worn with a sweater vest, and a sweater hastily thrown over a shimmering dress brought the elegance back down to earth. I could almost here them saying, "let's practicalize this and add some grunge to that." Afterall, we can't always go around in our most impractical outfits! It can be difficult to let go of our sky-high heels, and remember the past. But sometimes we all need a breather from impracticality... and the Marc Jacobs collection was just that, it brought back the past and with it, a sigh of relief.

What do you guys think of the new grungy elegance and comfort?

Time for a new post, perhaps..

Sorry to all my readers! I have been completely missing in action for the past... week? or could it be longer? I've been pretty exhausted, and I have no idea as to why!
Anyways.....
In my previous post, I mentioned Proenza Schouler to be one of my favorites of the fall season.
In this newly released add campaign, it seems that Proenza has stayed true to the collection in embracing its vampy-cool edge even in the campaign. Thoughts??

Let me know!

P.S. apologies for such a brief post! a detailed post is coming soon!

For the Tough and Cool

Along with the classics and back-to-basics on the runway for the fall season, there were those who continued along the cool but slightly darker path. Although I occasionally become quite overcome with nostalgia for times such as the fall collections of Prada or Celine, I was pleased to see that the cool-tough look had not left the runways.

(love these long socks)
Proenza Schouler Fall '10 - I absolutely love the tough vibe of the clothes. The make up is very dark, and completely in line with the clothes.

Alexander Wang Fall '10 - again with the long socks! love. The different textures in all the clothes are wonderful. There is still the rebel character but it has been compromised with tailored suit-dresses and the richness of the velvet. genius! and also a great usage of different elements to this collection!

I'll leave you guys with some music which definitely carries the vibes that these clothes do. Introducing Interpol. Sorry to leave music again!
what do you guys think of Interpol? yes? no?

Thoughts on the collections? Do you guys like the tough-rebel look; what were your favorite collections for this fall? Let me know! :)

Summer VS. Fall/Winter

Fall is almost here, so I've already started planning my fall and winter wardrobe! I think that this fall I'm going to be keeping my leggings and tunics close by (with my skinny cargo pants!). They're warm, comfy, and easy to put together. Looking through Topshop, I could not be more excited for fall to come!

I am obsessed with this lace tunic. The baggy shape provides comfort as well as the right feel for summer. But who said I couldn't wear lace in the fall? If you darken and heavy up the look up a little, it's perfect!

SUMMER:

Lace Trim Cycling Shorts - View All - Shorts - Topshop
Oversized Lace Tunic - View All - Tops - Topshop

FALL:

dark bloody nails and knee length socks! my new favs

Nails in Daredevil - Nails - Make Up - Topshop
Stripe Over The Knee Socks - Knee High Socks - Tights & Socks - Topshop
Ankle Leggings - View All - Leggings - Topshop

Kristen Stewart in Hervé Léger

Sorry, but I really can't help myself...Anyone a fan of the Twilight Saga?? (books and movies included) Embarrassingly, I am a HUGE fan... I have watched the movies numerous times and drained all four books of content. I am also a big fan of Kristen Stewart; her laid back attitude and dedication/care for her work makes her one of my favorites. Not to mention her style! Jeans and sneakers with a logo tee is a perfect description. But when she does dress up, she tends to stick to clear, cut, clean structures, and neutral colors.

Recently, she attended the Letterman show sporting an Hervé Léger Fall'11 dress. (with a new haircut too)

I love the cut out with the metalics! What do you guys think of the off one long sleeve? We saw similar sleeve action at the Eclipse Premiere in LA.

Eclipse comes out today, so don't miss it! I haven't seen it yet, and I am close to hyperventilating! x
P.S. Please comment!

Burberry Fall '11 Campaign

photos from nymag.com

The Fall ad campaign was released recently. It is clear that the raved-about jackets are certainly the spotlight here. The collection was highly impressive in terms of outerwear, although I couldn't say the same to the clothing underneath the jackets; they were fairly mediocre. But as I said, the outwear was definitely more of the focus, and I can already see people lining up for one of the coveted leather motor jackets! x

P.S. what do you guys think of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a Victoria's Secret Angel, being casted in this campaign? I have to say that, personally, I was surprised! x

Rodarte Fall/Winter 2010

The Fall 2010 Rodarte collection is one of my favorites from New York fashion work. Rodarte collections always have a dark-like and sometimes almost frightening mood behind them. This season, the undertone was definitely there, but disguised in soft and floating material. It gave off an eerie and spooky feel to it. It still had it's signature Rodarte feel but in slightly more soft and modified tones. This collection exuded a sort of half-presence.

More later!
